For as long as he can remember, Zack
was fascinated with arcane knowledge. "When the other kids
were fighting over who could play Han Solo, I wanted to be Obi-Wan
Kenobi." He performed magic in his living room as a child,
while reading up on seances, monster movies, and anything that had
the air of mystery.
An accomplished actor, Zack has appeared
on stage many times, "For some reason I got a lot of villain roles,
especially con-man types. I guess the directors could see the deceptive
streak in me. "
"At some point I found a book on sleight
of hand. I was just playing with it, but for some reason,
this time it took. And I mean really took. I bought
a large mirror and began practicing obsessively. I was hooked.
" This addiction led to a fulfilling career. "I think your
art chooses you, not the other way around. "
Zack was later to become the only living
student of the legendary sleight-of-hand master, Albert "Bottler
Al" Flieshman. "Al was one of these truly weird guys, never
a day of education, but he was smarter than you could believe. He
learned it all from working the carnivals, which is a lot like the
street --If you're not good, you don't eat.
Zack perfected his trade in the most
difficult arena of all--street performing. "There's no other
venue in the world where your audience can just walk away....If
there's something wrong with your act, you learn to fix it -- quick
."
Since then, Zack has performed for major
corporations, such as Intel and Unisys, movie stars, and even a
king. In 1995 he was awarded the prestigious Will Desmond award
for excellence in sleight of hand.
Zack is available to bring his
delightful deceptions to your event.
